National Health Center Week is an annual celebration where Community Health Centers spotlight the health needs in their communities and advocate for funding and policies that support their crucial work. This year, from August 4-10, we embrace the theme, “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections.”
Community Health Centers like Central North Alabama Health Services, Inc. (CNAHSI) stand as beacons of strength, service, and care. In moments of pain, they provide support and love. In moments of triumph, they offer hope and a vision for the future. This week, we honor the dedication and passion of the health center staff, board members, and supporters who make quality, comprehensive healthcare services a reality.
Each day of National Health Center Week is dedicated to a specific focus area to showcase the innovative ways health centers provide high-quality care, improve health outcomes, and narrow health disparities:
- Sunday, 8/4: Public Health in Housing Day
- Monday, 8/5: Healthcare for People Experiencing Homelessness Day
- Tuesday, 8/6: Agricultural Worker Health Day
- Wednesday, 8/7: Patient Appreciation Day
- Thursday, 8/8: Stakeholder Appreciation Day
- Friday, 8/9: Health Center Staff Appreciation Day

Special Focus Days for National Health Center Week
Health Fair Luau - Public Health in Housing Day
Date: Monday, August 5, 2024
Time: 10 AM – 1PM
Location: Cavalry Hill Community Center, 2900 Fairbanks Street NW, Huntsville, AL 35816
In partnership with the Huntsville Public Housing Authority, CNAHSI is hosting a Community Health Fair. This event will bring vital healthcare services to public housing residents, emphasizing the importance of preventive and routine healthcare services. Activities include blood pressure and glucose screenings, COVID-19 vaccines, Chick-fil-A sponsored lunch, Zumba, and care kit giveaways.

Open House & Ice Cream Social - Patient Appreciation Day

Community Fun & Wellness Festival - Children's Health Day

Location: Dr. Richard Showers Recreation Center
In partnership with Thrive Alabama and HAPPI Health, we host the 4th Community Fun and Wellness Festival! The festival features community giveaways, food trucks, music, a splash pad, inflatables, a petting zoo, health screenings, sports physicals, and booths from various community agencies. Attendees can collect stamps in their passports to enter for door prizes.
